Books about investing for beginners

We recently used the debt snowball method and have finally paid off everything (except for our house)! YAYYYY- thank you for your advice, Jeremy. We will have our full emergency fund before the end of the year and I’d like to read a few books about investing for beginners during this time. Any suggestions?

Wowowow! Congratulations Anna!!! So amazing! Now you can convert those debt payments into investment payments and you’ll be rich!

Hm… I think the two that I would recommend as a good place to start:

  • A Beginner’s Guide to Investing: Not many people recommend this one, but I really like it. It’s 100 pages, and basically the “cliff notes” version of every classic book on investing. It gives a really good overview of best investing practices. Their conclusion is to buy and hold a handful of ETFs. I prefer the target date index fund route, but the idea is the same.
  • The Simple Path to Wealth: Embarrassingly, I didn’t read this until very recently, and when I did it really felt like the book I would have written. JL Collins just has his head screwed on right regarding building wealth. It’s an easy read and gives specific advice.

If you want to go past those, you can check out the PFC reading list for a bunch more options that I like!

Congrats again! Let us know when you hit $100K, $500K and $1M net worth!!!

Awesome, thank you! We’re very excited about this journey. I’ve placed an order for The Simple Path and can’t wait to dive in.

Both links pointed to the first book, so here’s a link for others to the second who may be interested.

Doh. Copy and paste is hard! I fixed that link. Thanks for correcting it! I think you’ll love that book! There’s even an audio version read by the author himself!

Also, here’s a great video he made that’s a parody of The Gambler:
