Choose Target Date Index Funds for 401K, IRA and Brokerage Account?

Hi @Jeremy! I just finished the Personal Finance Club course but had a follow-up question to confirm I have the right game plan.

I’m already invested in a Target Index Date Fund through my 401K.

I was planning on investing in the the same Target Index Date Fund in both my ROTH IRA and my brokerage account.

From my understanding that is the main suggestion of the course and would be the ideal set-up but I wanted to confirm I’m understanding correctly.

Anything I am missing here?

Would it also be beneficial to invest in a Total Stock Market Index Fund in addition to the Target Date Index Fund?

Thank you very much!

If you want to share which target date fund you hold I’m happy to look at the break down of it. UT you probably already have a US total stock fund in the target date. Generally a target date holds all the funds you would need if you want to just invest all your money in one fund and not worry about rebalance.

Hi Chad, thank you so much!

The target date fund I am invested in is VFFVX. You are correct - the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index is included in that target date fund so I should be all set there.
