Fidelity 401K Rollover to Vanguard is it our best option?

My husband had Fidelity for his 401K, as soon as I learned about Index funds, I rebalanced his portfolio and picked around the 3 low fee Index funds you referenced in the course. Is it worth it to roll over to Vanguard? Or is it ok to keep it there?

@ Vanguard we have a regular investment account

Hi Leira!
I assume this 401k is with an employer that your husband no longer works with, right?

Do you know if there are other fees associated with the 401k account? If fees are minimal, keeping it in there would probably be fine, but it would still be a good idea to do a rollover just to cut ties with his former employer.

Some people who plan to do a backdoor Roth might choose to keep funds in their old 401k in order to avoid the pro-rata/aggregation rules. Rolling over money to a current 401k would be another way around this.
