Harm in buying index funds and corresponding ETFs?

I own VTIAX as well as VXUS, which seems to be the ETF equivalent of Vanguard International Stock. Is there harm in owning both? Should I reallocate funds to just one? Hoping to avoid overlap.

Thanks in advance!

Same account? Different accounts?

Some of it just depends on how much money you have at the time. I have ETFs and index funds that are the same fund in my Roth for a couple reasons.

  1. ETF was available before Fidelity’s 0 fund
  2. Couldn’t afford single shares of ETF
  3. ETF didnt allow fractional shares

They’re all in my brokerage account. They are a product of me just not knowing the difference when I dumped money in.
