How do you calculate your MAGI for Roth Contribution?

I have struggled to understand the contribution limits for Roth. There’s a phase out based on MAGI, and I’ve never clearly seen how to calculate it. I know my AGI can put me into the bracket where I can contribute $6,000. But would my MAGI actually make my contribution limit lower? I don’t want to get penalized for contributing to a Roth through the year thinking I can do $6000, then to find out when doing my taxes that I was only allowed some percent less.

I’ll cover this in tonight’s office hours (4/28/2021) with the recording available afterwards on the course site!
