Hello!
I just opened my first account with Vanguard. I plan on investing in the Target Roth IRA VTIVX to be exact. What types of things should I be looking for? I believe the expense ratio and fees? This one has an expense ratio of .15. I a new to investing on my own so, I’ve always had a 401K with my employer but, had some cash sitting in a money market in my credit union that can be better utilized. I want to ensure I am looking at the right things. The performance tab, am I looking for a certain percentage ?
Hi Alana,
The past performance isn’t too important, but seeing that the 10 year return is about 10%… it looks good as it matches how the market has been doing.
Looking at the portfolio it’s very straightforward as seen below. It has a low expense ratio and it’s the one on Jeremy’s list… you’re good to go!
Thank you so much for the help! I really appreciate it! I feel like I’m learning a foreign language lol but, I’ll get there. Have a great day!

No problem! If you have a target date index fund in a Roth IRA… you’re already doing an amazing job!
