Roth IRA investments

Hi Jeremy
In my Roth IRA do you suggest investing in only target date funds or could I have different investments in my Roth? So like target date funds and Fidelity’s S&P 500?

Also I contribute monthly to my Roth, do you suggest buying stocks each month/each time I add money or leave it in core and wait?

You definitely can have multiple different investments inside of your Roth IRA. But a target date index fund is designed to be an “all in one” option. So adding more to it doesn’t buy you any additional diversity, rather it just adds complexity and changes the intended asset allocation contained within.

Never have cash sitting in the core account. Best practice would be to set up auto investments that go right into that target date index fund, so there’s never anything in the core account.
