Thoughts on the index fund FSKAX?

FSKAX is an index fund by Fidelity that I’m looking to invest in long term for my Roth IRA.

It’s great! It’s a Total US Stock Market Index Fund. Nearly identical to the popular VTSAX offered by Vanguard. It has a super low expense ratio (0.015%).

Some ideas:

  • If you’re going FSKAX, you could also go FZROX which actually has a 0% expense ratio. (But honestly, FSKAX is so close to zero it really doesn’t matter much)
  • It doesn’t include any international stocks or any bonds. You could add those buy buying FZILX (0% Expense ratio international index fund) and FXNAX (US Bond index fund)
  • You could get all three of those asset classes in one convenient package in a target date index fund

But broad strokes, it’s a great fund, perfect for guaranteeing your fair share of US stock market growth. You’ll build a lot of wealth if you invest into it early and often and buy and hold for decades!
