Hi Jeremy , what’s your opinion on investing via robinhood?
It’s a cool site, great brand, great user experience, it’s getting a lot of people interested in investing, and for that I think it’s great.
It’s not the site I would use, because I “buy and hold index funds” as my investing strategy, and Robinhood seems to be more focused on trading individual stocks. I don’t believe you can buy index funds through Robinhood, although you can buy ETFs which perform the same, just in a different package. Also you can’t buy my favorite way to invest, a target date index fund.
Sites like Vanguard, Fidelity and Schwab natively support low fee index funds. If you want a really slick, modern interface, I might check out Betterment.com which has the same “set it and forget it” type investing as a target date index fund (although behind the scenes they actually implement that with ETFs)
